  2. Do you think girls with imperfections could be pretty? I have a bump on my nose. Since primary school kids made fun of my nose so my confidence is 0. I'm sixteen and I never had a boyfriend. My friends say that I am pretty at all but I dont see this I see just a bumpy nose. Who would like to have a gf with a bumpy nose? The guy I like is a hot soccerplayer. I think he would never be with me because of my nose.Have you any tips how to feel pretty and confident? sorry for my english. EUROPE :P

There is absolutely nothing wrong with having imperfections. EVERYONE has imperfections, and that’s what’s beautiful. Sure, we may think someone can be perfect, but even they have imperfections that they regard as flaws, yet we may not see it. In this same way, only you are seeing that wee bump on your nose. And do remember that your time in primary school were with rude kids that had nothing better to do but to make fun of others to make themselves feel better.

Don’t let what happened in the past affect how you think or feel about yourself. Because you are the only one that can control how others make you feel. If you chose to let their spiteful words get to you, that is when you become vulnerable. Don’t let them get to you, because you are beautiful. You don’t need your friends, or any guy to tell you that you are. And if a guy is shallow enough to NOT date you just because of that bump on your nose, then he doesn’t deserve you (no matter HOW hot he is).

Confidence only lasts when it comes from YOU. Don’t rely on the compliments of others to keep you going, because you’d just set yourself up for a heavy fall. I feel pretty when I’m wearing my favorite clothes, or even comfortable sweats. I feel prettiest when I’m comfortable and happy with myself.

Feeling pretty seems different than BEING pretty. But they are all in the same. If you feel pretty, then you are pretty. It doesn’t matter if you are pretty to others, but you are just simply pretty to yourself, and that can shine through to others, that, is confidence.

So just remember this, you can’t get others to love you, unless you love yourself first. You’ve gotta love yourself first.

  3. Hey Lily, I admire you soooo much! You seem really dedicated to doing well at school. I'm also asian so I understand there can be pressure to do good but you seem to really want to do it for yourself, not just to 'live up to your family name'. I really want to do well but often can't motivate myself or I get distracted by things like youtube LOL, or makeup or shopping etc. Please please please please tell me how you stay motivated to study and do well! Love you, from Kasandra. x

I’m glad you are on the right mindset to working hard! :) That’s always a good start!
My parents raised me to strive for A’s in school and to work my hardest. At first, I did it just to avoid being lectured at, but now, it’s just how I am. I just feel the need to work hard for them, so I can give them a better life in the long run, somewhat like repaying them for all they’ve done for me.  I want them to retire early and just have fun. They’ve worked so hard to get me here today.

So through them, I found my motivation. When I get lazy in school (and trust me, this happens).. I always think about them,  and my little sisters. I think about how my success in school has motivated my younger sisters to work hard also. I think about when my little sister Erica said she’d work hard to get straight A’s so she can get more full ride scholarships than me. LOL. Those little memories were driving forces that pushed me through the sleepless nights studying for exams and what not.

And lastly, it’s just important that you are also doing this for you. You’ll realize this soon enough. Once you find out what you want to do in life, and why you want to study. Find your motivation, and the studying gets easier.

I also have a few study tips:

    - start early, make a schedule and space things out. It’s better to study little by little and review each day, than to cram (your exam grades will definitely improve!)

    - use a planner, I can’t live without mine. It keeps me on track and organized.

    - taking good notes is definitely essential, if you are a slow note taker, bring a recording device. I always take my notes on my laptop, because I’m a freak typer and get every single word down. After the lecture, I go over my notes and rewatch/listen to the lecture and highlight the key things that the professor said. This will get easier as you get more and more comfortable with their teaching style. With those notes, you can make a study guide - I always shorten it as much as possible and make it as easy to understand as possible. I would print out those notes, and then study off of them, as I go, I tend to add little notes or drawings to help me remember them better. Whatever works for you

If you are still in high school, now is the perfect time to explore what time you study best, day or night. I study best at night (after I’ve eaten lol) You need to explore how you study best, with or without music, where, etc. ;)

I hope this helps, and I wish you all the best!
